Honestly Not That Bad

Yes it was another unnecessary remake and the original was already great but it could have been much worse. The thing I hate most is that, had it just been a sequel/prequel to the original film with some extra violence for an R-rating it could have been good.

Not bad? It was great! I like both versions. It could've used a bit more humor.. then it'd be a home run. Perhaps the Dark Knight phase was "in"... Gothic "all is dark" booboo... anyways... judging by the posts on this board seems in modern times moaning and complaining are "in". Hope that fart will blow over :)

Honestly? It really is that bad. 6.3 rating is way too generous.

yeah competently unnecessary but a good cast and a fun villain in Kate Beckinsale made it interesting enough.

Indeed, as others have said, it's a decent watch in spite of its complete lack of necessity. It would have benefited from recasting either Jessica Biel or Kate Beckinsale since both are attractive brunettes with similar body types.

ya I agree...I actually Enjoyed this film

Only thing I'll never understand is how it Got Greenlit....no actually I understand how it got Greenlit, I do not understand how it stayed Greenlit after Colin was cast....

This film tried to cast several Big Name A list actors in the Lead....The Studios Green Lit this film with I massive 150 Million dollar Budget and wanted it to be a tentpole blockbuster, The Studio expected A Big name to sign on and Star....So I understand why They Greenlit it....

But once they couldnt get any Big Names to sign on...They had to go with Colin because They were running out of time and Production needed to start....

when it became clear that Colin was the best they were going to do....I have no clue how they Continued to go forward with The 150 Million dollar Budgeted film...Colin simply is not a box office draw....

Yes they would have lost some money from pre production but were talking spending upwards of 150 Million after Colin was signed on....

It just doesnt Make sense....as you pointed out this was a remake no one wanted, The only possible way it could have succeeded was with An A list star like Cruise, Leo, Denzel or someone like that....

with that said....I very much enjoyed and even liked Colin in the role, but man did it FLOP

It's main problem is that it doesn't walk the line between what's real and what's imagined as well the Verhoeven film.
