Worst CBM ever makes more money than 10 MCU movies.

This has to be a conundrum for the Marvelites.

I thought Catwoman (2004) was a flop?

reply

So was The Hulk, it was so bad they had to make another one.

reply

There are lots of Marvel movies that barely broke even and somehow they are considered hits. Doesn't make sense.

reply

Exactly.

a team up movie that beat 10 standalone MCU movies, shock horror, if the DCEU made 100 movies they would never beat Avengers.

The reason this is considered a flop is because its a poor movie.

Its a flop yet it still made tons of money, plus DVD and Blu-Ray sales were the highest ever in 2016.

This CBM cost more to make than a lot of Marvel movies and features well-known DC characters as opposed to Marvel going for the obscure.

I would say its about even compared to Marvels budget. Captain A TWS was the 9th MCU movie and it made less than SS with about the same budget, plus it had higher ratings. Same goes for GotG, about the same budget and higher ratings as well.

People hate facts here.

well-known DC characters

Since when Deadshot and Captain Boomerang are well-known?

as opposed to Marvel going for the obscure.

Yeah, true. Who ever heard of characters like Spider-Man and Hulk?

reply

Joker and Harley were the well-known ones, and the ones marketed most. It's why the trailers made everyone think Joker was the villain instead of Enchantress.

Marvel went for the obscure before they were able to make Spidey movies again. Whoever heard of the Guardians? And whoever thought they'd be better than the X-Men?

Harley was hardly well-known enough to make this movie as popular as it was. And the Joker never was promoted as the villain. It's no different than lying advertisement for Iron Man .3

Hardly. Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk are far from obscure characters.

Whoever heard of the Guardians?

That doesn't really mean much, since character recognition doesn't make these movies successful. The brand is what make those movies successful.

And whoever thought they'd be better than the X-Men?

Days of Future Past was widely considered to be better than Guardians. (Ratings and such, you know. The things that are the most important for you in movies.)

Lately, DC has been trying make Harley a bigger figure and Joker is one of the most recognizable villains out there. The trailers did make him out to be the villain, or at least important.

Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk

Hulk, maybe not. But Cap and Iron Man weren't in the public consciousness that much. That's changed though.

You remember how detractors were all about how Guardians would be the movie that brought down the MCU due to the obscurity? I do, and I remember how bumping every thread they made was hilarious.

Not by much. And it had the artificial booster from Singer coming back and the Old Cast coming back.

still reigns...

It was supposed to fail but it still made a ton of money even without China.

As a customer service supervisor, I'm sure I make less money in a year than some female prostitutes out there...but I'm not at all broken up about it. 😉

Dude, after barking at others for the same practice, you've replied to an ancient post from an inactive user yet again.

There are way more horrible CM movies out there... Fantastic Four (2015) is clarly 'ahead' in that race.
