Need a better director and script. Felt like a made for TV movie. The scenes in the present were better than the ones in the past

I felt the same way to be honest.

I was pleasantly surprised by it having known nothing of this story beforehand. The younger Hopkins actor resemblance was uncanny.

Yea same here. It was pretty boring. Lots of staring and quiet time.
