Hmmmm Season 1, Episode 1---

Got to watch it because How does a zero like Darryl get to France??

In answer to some of the others who posted below

Fear The Walking Dead Wasn't to bad until they brought back Madison, then it started going down hill

Couldn't make it thru the one with the kids don't even remember it's title

Neagon was always interesting, and hooking up with Maggie is cool I figured for them to start boinking at the end of the last show,,, The only bad thing with that show is the NYC theme

reply

Walking Dead NYC idea had potential, but it's execution is horrible. Storyline was dumb, boring and not watchable. And too underlit.

I ended up enjoying World Beyond after I gave it a second chance.

So far, I liked the Darryl show. Very scenic with buildings and scenery. Interesting story and characters.

I bailed on Fear around the third or fourth season. I'll attempt to watch the last since I like Morgan.

reply

I guess we will find out in future shows how he made it to france....at first I thought he was on a Huck Finn raft.

reply

I had the impression he was beat up and thrown on a boat.

reply

I watched one episode. Out of curiosity. As I abandoned TWD universe years ago. Nope, its still bad.

This is bankrupt universe and they cant bring anything new to it. Its all the same in every show - bad gangs of people stumble upon our heroes and they will kill them eventually. And sometimes very slow zombies appear to pretend they can bite out.

And they showed trailer for whole season and we have another gang of bad guys to battle with. Daryl will walk around and kill them. Trailer looked very boring and cliche and I had zero desire to watch other 5 episodes.

reply

"bad gangs of people"

LOL! Yep, my reaction was not, again.

reply

Like they cant even create few storilines and seasons that will not revolve around "Villain of the season" and his gang of bad guys. Daryl has some boring boss-woman who is all cosplaying psycho villain. This has been done so many times in this show. Just stop. Have him just wonder around France and have "bad guy of the episode" at least.

I laughed when that bad guy escaped that nuns house. So conveniently. I assume that France is so small in this universe that Daryl will keep running into them every week no matter where he goes.

And dont even remind me of that Special Boy or whatever it was. It was co cringe and ridiculous that I half-listened. Like Harry Potter actress-nun wants Daryl to bring him somewhere because he is so special or some shit.

reply

Daryl calling the boy "creepy" was funny. If they add a supernatural storyline, it would at least be different from the "villain of the season" plot. And I like the idea of the scenic France local.

The producers are afraid to take any risks away from the villain focus. It would've been interesting to see other countries with fewer villains and more cooperation. It's dumb for villains to be everywhere when 99% of the population is dead so there should be plenty of resources.

reply

I actually half-hoped that in France will be different. Because different country and different mentality. But it looks like people in France behave exactly like people in USA. So whats reason then to move show to France location. They could send Daryl solo to any other American city and do the same plot.

I mean this should be like 10 years after apocalypse happened. And zombies are so slow that any child can simply run from them and kill them. They are no danger. So it means that society should be restored at this point. With cities, electricity, factories, police and all. People would gather in big communities and open up. And rebuild. If there is electricity - there is civilization. Even in Last of Us Joel was living in guarded city where they tried to live normal life and people worked and lived in apartments.

But none of this is happening in TWD universe. They have their communities because it was like that in comics. But there is like no more then 200 people. They are small and barely survive. Its not restoring of civilization.

I thought in Europe they are less violent and would come back faster. But here is Daryl comes in and its wasteland. And then that group of bad men shows up and kills everyone for no reason. But they show trailer and those people can actually sail ships. But still they are just a violent gang who acts like this for who know why.

I dont think this is how apocalypse would go. People would restore civilization fast as soon as zombies will not be such threat. There will be cities with big population and many soldiers. Small gangs will not rule around.

reply

Hahahahahahahahahaha

"I thought in Europe they are less violent and would come back faster."

That's funny

YOU believe that less violence would stop the Zombies??? Much less anyone who survives, would NOT be looking for some authoritarian existence so they wouldn't have to worry about life in general..

Remember when they left the farm, and they were all together and Rick, as the leader made it very clear that HE was in charge and if the others wanted to make it they would just follow orders

Nothing would have been ANT different in Europe --- Authoritarians started in Europe, and nothing has really changed even today and would have gotten worse in a ZA

reply

I agree. Bad writing tells the same story repeatedly.

There are major cultural differences. France isn't as gun crazy and violent as Americans and have a stronger respect for democracy. I doubt there would be an armed militia brutalizing people and killing nuns in cold blood. People would want to return to "normal" as soon as possible so I see most cooperating and attempting to restore civilization, too.

There are fast zombies now, too. An element they're supposed to add is about French scientists who may have created the virus. I thought that was going to be the focus of this show.

I don't know if you stuck it out to the end of The Walking Dead, but they did finally have a large community called the Commonwealth with 50,000 people living normal lives. I found this story and the comics which went years into its future with an adult Carl (not dead in comics) to be interesting. Rick was kidnapped by the Civic Republic which has 200,000 people. At least these stories are heading in the right direction.

The world is huge and practically empty. It makes zero sense that violent groups fight each other when all they need to do is spread out and never see each other, again.

Neegan/Megan series 2/10
Daryll 5/10 mainly for locals, nuns, creepy boy and potential for some surprises - I hope.

"France isn't as gun crazy and violent as Americans and have a stronger respect for democracy."

Do you remember how the French Revolution (1789-1799) ended?
But true, the Frenchies preferred the axe 🪓 and then the guillotine. 🇫🇷

reply

In 2023.

France has no death penalty.

reply

And I appreciate that!
Many US states also abolished the death penalty.

Doesn't change that people across the world carry a seed of cruelty.
And love.

reply

U.S. has a death penalty and France doesn't! France also has strict gun control laws and a lower murder rate. France is pro-unions, pro-workers, working-class and anti-capitalism, rich, materialism.

There are major cultural differences between Americans and the French. A child selling lemonade, newspapers, or girl scout cookies in order to learn entrepreneurship or earn money is unheard of in France.

A business owner with financial difficulties is not allowed to just lay-off a worker(s) because having a job is considered a human right supported by their Constitution.

France is a Catholic country which has recently loosened abortion laws while the U.S. made it harder to get them.

More authoritarian personality types in the U.S. (1/3) than in France. Voter suppression, companies donating millions to political campaigns and expensive political TV ads during elections are unheard of in France.

French are more intellectual while Americans consider smart people nerds and ban books. Popular French shows have guests talking about nonfiction books in front of a young audience. Try that in America!

They should have hired French writers or consultants. Ou moi.

You don't need to fight your straw men with me.

And I seriously hope you aren't a US American with that bad opinion about the USA. 🙁

Non. 🇫🇷

But your wrong straw men you've to fight yourself. ☺

reply

You're still a liar.

reply

You can repeatedly stomp with your little children's feet. Doesn't change that many of your straw men are wrong.

Vive la France! 🇫🇷
(fits perfectly with a zombie show ☺)

T'es plouc! Pas de lien. Tu n'as aucune preuve parce que t'es menteur!

Lather......rinse.....repeat.

Haven't watched this yet. Watched the first couple of Dead City......same old same old, Haven't gotten around to the rest.

Gave up on Fear halfway thru S05.

AMC is keeping the franchise artificialy alive through sheer volume of never ending spin-off's.

After this very first episode of the Daryl-spinoff really don't know what to think.
Some good one-liners from Daryl, nice cinematography and settings.
But Daryl rescued and nursed by nuns?! 🛌 🙏 🙏 🙏 ...seriously?!?!

Well, probably will watch the next episode though.
Once I've digested this one. 😇
