What the hell happened to Joseph Gordon-Levitt?

It wasn't until after the movie I realized YJ was JGL. Wth? He doesn't even look like him. I mean he looks like him a bit, but only to the degree that it resembles him somewhat.

Did he have plastic surgery or something? Or he must have gotten extremely fat really fast? Then again, I haven't watched a recent film of his after Inception. Boy did he put on a lot of weight.

Jim Raynor: Scares me more than the zerg.

Prosthetics to appear more like young Bruce Willis

... with an unconvincing result.

Keep in mind his makeup was based on a cast of Bruce Willis' 55 y.o. head/face. If they would have had a cast of him at 30 it would have been much closer to the young BW we all know.

They should have just CGI-ed young Bruce Willis face onto JGL head, Rouge One style.

reply

That should be well known. They talked about it while promoting the film.

They gave him contact lens and a fugly prosthetic snout so he'd look more like Bruce Willis. He even put on weight but he still looks too good to be Bruce Willis.

I guess not for a second did it occur to the OP that Levitt’s drastically different (and rather unnatural) appearance in Looper might’ve had something to do with how he was supposed to look in the film. Ha!

But can’t blame the OP. Not keeping up with a certain actor’s movies (or social media these days) and then watching a new movie starring said actor where he looks mostly unrecognizable as a result of prosthetics... will for sure leave you scratching your head. Plastic surgery? Lol

So they weren’t so successful making Levitt look like a young Willis (as it’s been noted, there’s a good reason for that), but his appearance is cool.

He looks like a slightly younger Jimmy Kimmel.

Would have been hilarious to have had Kimmel play the Willis role.

I went into this movie mostly cold so I only thought JGL looked strange. I didn't realize there were prosthetics and only after reading about the film did I see this was a thing. I could see how while promoting the film they wanted to get ahead of this and tell people about it.
