Better than any Avengers movie.

I saw this last night and as a Snyder hater I thought I was going to trash this movie, but I liked it way more than I expected. I started watching this late and thought I was going to start dozing off, but I was actually into it and it didn't really feel like 4 hours.

As someone who hates most Marvel films as well as hating the original Justice League, Batman v Superman, (and not even caring enough to watch Aquaman), I had a more enjoyable time watching this than any Avengers film. The cinematography was better, the CGI was better (still not great), the storyline wasn't as convoluted, the performances were better, the maturity and the overall feeling of a cinematic experience was felt here.

Avengers: Endgame was 3 hours and it felt longer than this 4 hour movie Justice League film. Avengers is just a popcorn film designed for children.

Thanks for the proof that Avengers is made for children.

No, I got it. And you proved it.

Suuuure. You got it *sarcastic wink*

This crap is for impressionable teenage boys.

reply

And every Marvel movie is worse.

I ENJOY THEM...I THINK THEYRE GETTING BETTER TOO...THEY ARE NOT FOR CHILDREN OR TEENS...SUCKS HOW PEOPLE INSIST ON DEGRADING OTHERS OVER THEIR MOVIE CHOICES.

reply

I don't see how that's degrading people's movie choices. Toy Story is a kids movie, but I love it, but I can't deny it's geared toward children.

reply

THEY ARE GEARED TOWARD ME...I GREW UP READING THOSE BOOKS JUST LIKE THE DUDES MAKING THE FLICKS...THEY MAKE THEM FOR EVERYONE...CHILDREN INCLUDED...THEY ARENT CHILDRENS MOVIES THOUGH...THEY ARE FILMS BASED ON 40 TO 50 YEAR OLD COMICS...COMICS THAT DONT SELL VERY WELL ANYMORE...BECAUSE CHILDREN DONT BUY/READ THEM ANYMORE...THESE MOVIES ARE AIMED AT MY GENERATION,YET MADE FAMILY FRIENDLY ENOUGH FOR EVERYONE TO ENJOY.

You post constantly on Marvel boards. You know I'm not a troll, you just don't like what I said.

reply

You're absolutely trolling. There is zero chance you really believe either version of Justice League is better than any Avengers film. I don't recognize your user name, so I don't know what else you've posted about these films, but come on. From an objective, cinematic standpoint this film is complete garbage. The story is weak, the pace is poor, even the CGI, which would be the only thing this film could possibly have going for it, is subpar. Literally nothing about Justice League is even at the level of mediocrity. The Avengers films, on the other hand, are compelling narratives, punctuated with realistic-looking action, and stand out as great films even when looked at outside of the genre.

I'm willing to give action films a pass, and cut them slack. I don't expect them to rate with Casablanca or Citizen Kane, but they have to rate within the genre. Justice League is scraping the bottom of the superhero genre. The original Avengers film, and Infinity War, both transcend their genre, and the other two films are great super-hero films, if lacking that extra something that would allow them to rate with great films in general.

reply

Did you even read my original post? I clearly stated that I hated the original Justice League, so I don't know why you think I thought either version would be better than Avengers.

I'm not saying I loved Zack Snyder's Justice League, but think it's better than Avengers. I don't see how you could find that story compelling when they use time travel to benefit their mistakes in the story. I also don't understand how you could think those movies have realistic action. It's a CGI fest with really bad CGI.

reply

For a superhero team up movie, Snyder's JL barely had any superhero team up moments. Half the time one superhero was giving the other one a kickstart or a lift.

That's where the movie failed the most. It never lived up to the big expectations of the final action set pieces. And this is where Avengers scored the most - the team up action was beautifully choreographed

reply

As someone who hates you, I must state the obvious; that you have a piss poor taste in movies.

reply

You don't know me to hate me. As a matter of fact, I don't even recall interacting with you. I didn't say it was great, only that it was way better than I thought it was going to be and that it was better than most Marvel movies.

reply

Yeah.

In horror there is this title bestowed upon more serious artisan work, 'elevated horror'.

I'm bestowing that title onto Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021). It's an 'elevated superhero' film. This is much more in line with serious epic pictures than it is with typical superhero blockbusters.

reply

This one cared more about story and character than any Avengers movie did.

reply

The 4 hour runtime this got was a blessing really. So much more character development and background information. Allows the movie to breathe. Many of these superhero movies are rapidly paced with a lot of focus on humor and action set pieces.

Some people like that and fair enough but it's the same reason many of these movies are kind of hard to take seriously. They're popcorn movies. Dumb fun and not much else. This movie tried to be serious and artistic, which it achieved in my opinion.

reply

I was laughing at the way people were hyping this up before it came out. I thought there would be no way making this 4 hours would improve it. I'm glad to say I was wrong.

reply

I avoided it for 2 whole years. I'm not that big a fan of Snyder or superhero movies so I completely dismissed this. A 4 hour cut of a mediocre superhero movie by a director I don't care much for? Not appealing.

I thought the hype when it came out was just Snyder/DC fanboys brigading so I disregarded all the praise.

Upon watching it last night though, fair play. It's a great movie.
