They're trying to push the woke narrative. Quite obvious.

According to woke doctrine, all those white settlers played no role in building America. It was built when black African slave traders sold off their own people (we're supposed to ignore the inconvenient detail of who sold the slaves to US buyers, and to especially ignore the fact that huge numbers of slaves were sold into the middle east, because that makes for a dreaded PoC vs PoC scenario - AAAGGGHHH!). During this time of pure black toil, no whites were involved in implementing the infrastructure of the US; they just sunbathed 16 hours a day. Black people are wholly good and pioneering. White people are wholly bad and just laid back while blacks gave us everything we see today. Oh, and modern whites (who don't own slaves and haven't ordered anyone to build roads) should pay a portion of their salary to modern blacks (who aren't slaves and haven't been ordered to build roads), because, well, um... they just should, dammit!

This alternative far-left history is as hilarious as it is disturbing.

my racist boss at work once told me "The best thing that ever happened to African-Americans is slavery, if it wasn't for slavery then they would still be in Africa killing each other in the Congo!!"

reply

Most people in most African countries have an appallingly low standard of living. Many live under constant threat of being slaughtered in religious or tribal wars. I'd much rather be a 21st century descendant of a slave living in the U.S.

it is probably just comfort blanket to tell black american that they build america. africa has been known as failed continent before euro's come and after europes are long gone it is still shitholes. if they build usa it mean they can build africa same way but does not happen.

No, he's just pointing out that SJW's squawk endlessly about social justice, or economic justice, or racial justice, etc. -- about every sort of justice but justice justice.

When you are being held personally guilty, and are made to pay for wrongs you did not personally commit, that is not just. Period.

Slavery was evil, and it was an unalloyed good that we ended it, but the harsh truth of the matter is there is no way to right historical wrongs. The people who were actually guilty of committing the wrongs are long dead, and the people whom they wronged are also all dead. At some point, you have to leave the past in the rear view mirror and move on. And making membership in identity groups the most important societal factor, and assigning collective guilt is not just wrong, it's evil. It inevitably assigns a tyrannical, arbitrary power to some people, to punish others for wrongs they did not themselves commit, and it also inevitably perpetuates race-based hatreds, and ensures they last generations. A better recipe for endemic sectarian strife and eventual societal collapse I cannot think of.
