I'm not saying it is a masterpiece, but it's a nice change of pace from all the instant gratification type of movies these days. It's a slow burn first movie that sets the tone. Now I would expect the pace to be picked up in the sequel(s), but if this is to be a sum of its parts, the pace can be forgiven depending on the quality of the other films.

sharei wouldn't say i found it slow, & i was never bored.
i do think, like arrival and br2049, it sorta walked a very fine line dividing epic grandeur and being just a wee bit ponderous here & there.
but overall, i absolutely dug it, and might go back to see it again. i definitely think it should be seen on the biggest screen with the best sound system cranked up as high as possible.
At least I could watch this version. The original 80s version, even in the 80s, was nauseating.

shareI don't mind a slow movie per se. But this was boring! I did not care for anyone, not much happened, scenes went on and on, the actress that played the mother was bad, the music was annoying etc.
