There were times where I wondered if she was still grieving the loss of her mother due to her tired look but as the movie progressed I had to accept that it was just how she really was (haggard). They should've picked a "girl" a little more convincing imo.

Shipka looks like a high-school kid, Bowen is a gorgeous women in her late 30's or so.
Idk if it was intentional but she looked really old/tired in this particular movie, especially in comparison to her photos on an image search. Not an insult and yes, I think Bowen looks excellent here.
shareShe was still in her early 20s when she made this film, but the thought did occur to me that she looked closer to 30 at times. I think her hairstyle and makeup choices may have contributed to making her look more "mature". Ultimately, it wasn't too distracting though.
