Are people still convincing themselves that this series is good?

Boring as fuck. Does this mean it is "good writing"?

My issue with the show is not so much that it is "boring", I like these medieval court shenanigans and to each his own.
What bothers me is the partially terrible writing that I cannot explain considering at other times, it is perfectly fine.

All characters are completely unlikable, there's not a single one I root for, they are all scummy cunts.

Then there are the enforced SJW undertones, from the constant, and at this point hilarious, "wemen are strong too!!" narrative over the "coincidence" that almost every single man in this show is either completely inept and/or a disgusting piece of shit, there is no in between it seems. Oh and the enforced "diversity", because the showmaker's main concern was:

“It was very important for Miguel and I to create a show that was not another bunch of white people on the screen”

I mean, wow. "A bunch of white people". Imagine one would re-make The Cosby's or whatever and say that about black people.
I am sick and tired of this SJW nonsense ruining basically every show and movie these days.

This is what strikes me as kind of funny about all of the anti-woke crowd using this as an counter example to Rings of Power. Apart from the stupid casting, there aren't really any overt feminist messages in RoP. In House of the Dragon there are, and one of the writers has even said so.

The dialogue in HotD is better, but the plot is very linear, and moves at a plodding pace as times, you have things like the crab eater, who seemed cool, but was completely pointless and didn't affect the story whatsover. Daemon does random shit all the time that doesn't advance his schemes at all, he just seems to run in circles.
And yeah, they kind of missed the reason that GoT worked. Even though the characters had shades of grey, you always kind of knew who you were suppposed to root for. 7
GoT made it's villains likeable and human, it didn't make its heroes scumbags. It was more like a continuum, you had Joffrey and Dany's brother, who were just flat out evil and everyone was happy when the died. You had Cersei who was evil in every way except her love for her children, and there was something tragic about them all dying. Jamie started off mostly evil but became more heroic as the season progressed....until they threw that all out in the final season or two.
Bronn was a good guy, but also a bit of a mercenary.

That's not bad writing. That's just your taste in media. Why do you have to root for characters in order to appreciate the writing of a show?

reply

Yes it is bad writing.

Look at Game of Thrones. Lots of cunts, but you still "like" them. Because they are written well, with personality, with an arc, with literal character. Tywin was horrible, but everyone respected him. Talking viewers, not other characters.
Joffrey was a monster, but he wasn't "dull" or uninteresting.

Meanwhile in HotD, all we get is these dull NPCs.
