Apparently you can go to prison for almost 20 years, and beat the World Champion without a single tune up fight or extensive training. The writing is laughable and has no respect for what it takes to become a World Champion in any sport, let alone a sport like boxing. Awful script.

shareMuch of the film felt rushed and that part of the story is definitely one of those things. They should've either added 20 or so minutes of run time to show him training and then a montage of him working his way up the ranks, or they should've split the film into two parts. As it stands, it definitely feels like they are trying to do too much without enough time to do it.
shareYeah it's definitely an unrealistic stretch & the film does point out how unheard of it would be. It still does just go with the idea that Addonis had enough pull to Fastrack him to a title shot. Not realistic but wasn't really bothered by it, even though they could have easily done a montage & time skip to show Cutty working his way up a bit more.
