Season 11 is coming to UP network in the US

Don't know if anyone still comes here or reads this, but season 11 of Heartland will be on the UP Network starting Wednesday February 28 at 9pm ET. It's a 2 hour premier so I'm guessing that means they'll be playing two episodes per week like they did with season 10.

I'm so excited about this. Hope this livens up this board so we can discuss the new (to the U.S.) season.

Well, I was hoping to be able to discuss this show with people once season 11 premiered in the US. Pretty dead in here though. Doesn't bode well for any conversation.

I blame this on the imdb boards going away. This used to be a somewhat active discussion until that happened.

reply

I agree. I hate IMDB now.

I check every couple of weeks or so. Wish there was more activity.

reply

I think nobody knew where to go after the IMDB boards closed and so everyone split up and went to different sites. Which resulted in several sites with little to no activity. If there's a better board on the internet for this type of thing, I'd sure like to know what it is.

reply

Well, I seem to be talking to myself here. I keep checking back in hopes that others will come on here to discuss season 11.

So glad to have this show back. I'm enjoying season 11 so far. Maybe because I've missed it so much. I just hope that when Lou comes back that she doesn't ruin it. She's always a bit too high strung and tries to create drama where there isn't any.

reply

So Lou's back...for a minute.

Her daughter's want her to stay but her job is more important. I guess since she really doesn't help out around Heartland anymore she's down to just having two jobs now. Maggie's and the dude ranch. But she's having to hire someone to handle both of those jobs she took on now because she's spending all her time on the road trying to franchise Maggie's.

Isn't this what she accused Peter of? Only, Peter was just trying to take care of and provide for his family. He even left a lucrative job in Dubai in order to bring Lou back to Hudson. But Peter couldn't find a job in his field in Hudson. No surprise there. But that wasn't good enough for her.

I wish Peter were still on the show full time. He was a good character. I'm not so taken with Lou's new bf and their on again/off again relationship.

Is this show any good? I am from Alberta. Should I start watching it from the beginning? Don't stop posting!

reply

I love it. It's such a welcome change from all the overly dark, self-important shows that are on today. Not to say that I can't enjoy a dark or serious show. Breaking Bad is one of my all time favorites, but so many shows today try to copy BB and miss what made it great.

Anyway, back to Heartland. I don't know if all of Alberta is like the show, but where they film in High River has some truly beautiful countryside. Canada must just be pretty all over. I remember years back when I saw the 1985 Anne of Green Gables and being overcome with the beauty of it. Although, I now realize much of that was shot in Ontario and only a little of it shot in PEI.

Heartland is just a good, family show. After watching it so long, I feel that I'm a part of their family. I really can't say enough good things about it. I know here in the U.S. that seasons 1-9 are on Netflix. Don't know about in Canada, though. You may have the opportunity to watch it through the CBC website too.

Start at the beginning and watch it. I'm currently watching season 11 but have also started over on Netflix so I would love to discuss it with you as you make your way through the series.

Wow that was the most honest answer to a question I have had here so far.

Thank you so much for the information. I remember Anne of Green Gables growing up. Classic Canadian series. I think there is still an Anne museum somewhere around PEI.

I just checked my phone and it is actually on Netflix, so I will check it out. Maybe over the Easter weekend I will check out a few episodes. Once I get really into a show I tend to binge watch it until there is nothing left. ]

I will start at the beginning.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond my friend!

Any time.

Report back and let us know what you think.

reply

Wait.. Americans like this show? How can you stand the OOTS and ABOOTS???

reply

When this was on the IMDB boards there was a fairly large American contingent talking about this show. I actually think the Canadians posting about this show were in the minority there.

And the oots and aboots aren't very prevalent on this show. I know everyone always makes fun of the Canadians and their oots and aboots but I've noticed it to sound more like oat and a boat. And don't forget about the soreys.

We pretend we're watching Minnesotans.

The little girl(s) playing Lyndy is absolutely precious.

They must have had budget cuts in seasons ten and eleven. I looked up Michelle Morgan and Graham Wardle and career-wise both had nothing else going on that would explain why they are written out for plenty of episodes at a time. (I suppose she could have been pregnant.)

reply

I just looked on IMDB and Graham Wardle seems to have been strictly doing Heartland since 2013. Michelle Morgan has several credits in addition to Heartland in the last couple of years. It appears she's in a new series called Deep Six and is apparently a main character in that show.

So, I don't know why they've had Ty out of the show, but it appears that Lou has been in NY so that Michelle Morgan can be in the Deep Six series.

reply

She only filmed six episodes and they have written her out of good parts of two seasons.

They have also written Chris Potter out of several episodes. I know he is legitimately busy.

I smell budget cuts.
