Fight at the end by the Statue of Liberty

Strange universe this is whereby helicopters can show up outside Parker's house within minutes of learning Spider-Man's identity, but when there is lightning and explosions and things being destroyed by mysterious flying monsters right by the Statue of Liberty, everybody turns a blind eye. Am I missing something here?

my thoughts exactly

It’s one thing for journalists to want to get an up-close pic of a celebrity. It’s something else to be in the middle of a huge superhero battle with explosions and stuff.

Are you saying that they wouldn't? Because I'm pretty sure they would, along with the emergency services.

reply

They could get a good enough shot from a safe distance from a different part of the river. Bringing their helicopter near the Statue of Liberty (which is likely illegal to begin with) with a giant sand monster smashing stuff, electric bolts flying around, bombs going off, etc. would not be safe.

As for emergency services, where would they be? In boats down below? And who are they there for? There are no civilians on the island in the middle of the night (they wouldn’t know MJ and Ned were there).

reply

They would be answering to calls and reports from people seeing and hearing strange lights and explosions going on by the Statue of Liberty. Why would that not be enough for them to go and investigate to see what is going on, particularly after they'd be put on alert after the destruction Green Goblin caused from earlier on? They're not going to idly stand by while TSOL possibly gets destroyed, on the assumption there's nobody there to get hurt.

Are you asking about emergency personnel or law enforcement? I suppose it’s weird that cops didn’t show up. Of course, your initial question was about journalists.
