You think this is gonna be another fans vs critics one?

The critics reviews have been pouring in & it's mixed for now. Sitting around 50% on RT if you care about that.

Forget about that.

My question though is, is this gonna be another "it's for the fans" thing like Super Mario or the Five Nights at Freddy's movies?

We all know that every fandom has hard-core fans that'll defend something to death no matter the quality

But is that gonna be enough to "save" this movie? Money wise, that is.

I've had the mid credit scene spoiled for me & it's pretty big, "for the fans". But I have a feeling it's another Black Adam scenario.

In the sense that the end credit scene gets a bigger reaction & gets talked about more than the actual movie.

multiple reviews have said that the the typical Marvel fan probably won't like it.

I've already seen a bunch of people under the critics individual reviews commenting that "it's not for you, it's for the fans''

And, "A bad critic review means it's good".

Ya know, the usual.

reply

I think that meant the fans of Captain Marvel and Mrs Marvel (which I actually liked), but those fans are far and few between.

reply

The reviews are praising the cast. But mostly Iman Vellani.

Anyways, I think the mid credit scene I mentioned might create buzz for the fandom.

Some might watch it just for that.

reply

No because this movie has more haters than fans. At least on social media.

reply

So did the first one. But I guess Endgame kinda gave that one a boost.

Honestly, with the state of superhero media in general right now, I wonder if the MCU brand or that credit scene alone can actually get butts in seats.

OR if this is gonna be a bigger hit on streaming instead.

reply

The first one had the novelty factor.

reply

The first did really well, in my opinion, because it came right before endgame, the most anticipated movie ever & she was sold as "a very important character in the fight against Thanos".

Will Gen Z love it?? Is it Meme friendly and more importantly, does it have a Hook to get them to want to shell out $$$$ to see this in theatres VS simply waiting for the Disney+ premiere of it??

reply

Honestly, it depends on word of mouth. If the fan reception is as mixed as the critics one, then it'll definitely fall short & probably be a bigger hit on streaming.
