S1E6 - Merry Trick Arrow Bonanza - Christmas Came Early

So, Derek Bishop was deep in debt with Kingpin's loans, Eleanor killed Armand the 3rd herself... not Jack as some assumed. Jack took the fall for Sloan instead. JACK IS A GOOD GUY!

-New Trick Arrows: Air Bag Arrow, Freeze Arrow, Flash Bomb Arrow, Ice Breaker Arrow, Magnetic Arrow, Sonic Arrow, Flare Arrow, Tranquilizer Arrow, Pym (Shrink) Arrow [Elongated], (Pin Needle Arrow?), (Grapple Jet Arrow?), (Electric Constraint Arrow?), (Electric Net Arrow?), (Stench Arrow? [Orange])
*Many of the arrows are very new in the show and franchise so no official names yet. The Pym (Expand) Arrow used before was more round, similar to the Scatter Arrow.

-Previous Trick Arrows Used: Smoke Arrow (Purple/White), Acid Arrow, Explosive Arrow, Grapple Arrow

-Bow: Miniature Explosive Discs with detonator on bow

Okay, so SOME of the arrows he can make himself if it involves household items, riot control-type munitions, electronics, and a few military gear (fragmentation grenades) he must've swiped back in the day but the rest has to be from already pre-assembled tipped units because that kind of tech would be impossible to make at home (Pym/SHIELD and Stark). The one that was TOO DANGEROUS seems to be the Burst Shot Arrow which he used during the Chitauri invasion.

Yelena vs. Kate elevator quips and room swap fight scene was a nice comedic touch. I'm sure the kids will love that Christmas tree Owl as well. I worry though about all those virgin Marvel nerds will see that LARP scene and think they can be heroes too...

Glad we finally got to the closure on that lost Avenger Compound property Rolex belonging to SHIELD Agent 19 aka Mockingbird aka Laura Barton.

My silly nitpick gripes is Clint being able to shoot a slower arrow and split it in 2 with another arrow he pulled further back on. That and Kate surviving all those activated arrows including the Burst Shot Arrow (TOO DANGEROUS).

Can't wait for Season 2 if there is any.

PS: Don't forget to watch the post-credit scene.

reply

When did it say about the Rolex?

Also there is no season 2.

reply

Rolex belonged to Laura, Clint's wife. She was a secret SHIELD agent back then before going into hiding from Clint's enemies. Apparently this Mockingbird is different from the Agents of SHIELD one which is actually the real Bobbi. Not sure if AoS is MCU canon though else this will just raise more questions.

Aww, well, one less show to worry about then. Never ending list of shows Marvel churns out. :D

reply

Did it say in the finale or you read it somewhere?

reply

I just searched shield agent 19 and that's the only alias that comes up for her. Makes sense since she spoke German a bit during a previous episode and the fact that Clint told her to take care of her property better shows she was a SHIELD agent and the length he took to keep her identity hidden and family safe.

reply

OK, I skipped most of the last scene. I see it now.

reply

Why would tracksuits want that?

reply

Most likely to track Ronin. They were auctioning off smuggled Avenger property after all at that black market before the TSM hit the place to specifically find it. When Kate went to Maya's apartment, she found the watch and Clint's family list. They were closing in on him and his family. Maya probably couldn't connect the two together else this story would've ended differently.

reply

I guess you are right. They were probably looking for it on Maya's instructions, but the watch's connection to Ronin is too remote, I credit it to stupid writing. If Maya knew the connection she would have known just about everything, the watch is not going to help any further.

reply

They'll probably make it so the Mockingbird title gets passed along. They could make her Bobbi and have had her name changed for witness protection reasons, but I think there's room for both of them if they just make her the original Mockingbird.

reply

No offense to Barton, but Kate and Yelena's chemistry is the best part of the series. I love the way Yelena says her full name all the time.

reply

I adore them together! I can't make up my mind whether I want them to fall in love, or make an action buddy movie together!

As for the trick arrows, I take back all the stuff I said about Clint relying on tech made by others.

reply

I think Yelena already did, fall in love that is. How else can you explain how much she tolerated Kate to compromise her mission? I mean Kate could do nothing to tick her off, even after "That really hurts".

reply

I don't know if they're falling in love, or if they're just two very lonely people who thinks that nobody else in the world is like them or could possibly understand them... and find they're wrong! And that their newfound kindred spirit really likable! Their attempts to fight without hurting the other were wonderful! (And similar to the airport brawl in "Civil War", but with elevator buttons.)

Their relationship has so much potential, it could blossom into a badass action-movie partnership or a real romance, and I think the odds of a romance are good. They are great together and well, if Marvel is thinking about risking a high-profile same-sex relationship, they'll never have a better chance. Everyone loves the two characters together, it'd be easy to believe that either or both are bi or lez, and the straight men are already hoping...

reply

Well, Kate already asked Yelena on a date:"It's Christmas eve, let's go grab a drink", and Yelena already agreed:"OK yeah sure, after I killed Barton".

Of course that was done in a comical manner, but I think there was some seriousness underneath, at least Yelena I think was serious about that. Nothing is happening as yet, but it is fun to have this "Will They or Won't They" romantic undertone, which is usually happening in rom-com of heterosexual coupling.

But rom-coms usually have several seasons to drag this out, they might not have the time to follow through here. It is a shame the end credit scene was not these two on a date, instead it was that stupid musical.

And outside some weirdos straight men don't usually mind some girl on girl action, which was kind of literally happening in this episode ;)

reply

Show has a lot of girl power and girlfriends, the type of stuff seen in teen girl shows. Yelena seems too relaxed/down to Earth/playful in this series although she was more or less like that in Black Widow as well. Lot less serious than Natasha that's for sure. One day that'll get her killed. Then again, she's serious before you actually start HIII!!! talking to her. Any person that wins her heart will be one lucky person.

Yes, as a hetero straight cisgendered male that's 20% gay according to some crap survey I took, I prefer my women to be bi-curious. Threesomes+ are like heaven. shudder
