Why is mom walking free?

Why wasn’t Lori arrested? She lied to the police about a murder investigation and conspired to send an innocent person* to prison while helping a guilty person avoid detection.

* innocent of the murder being investigated.

I was both annoyed and confused by this.

And Brianna and Dylan too?

I was thinking there for a while that they were all covering for her, and that it might have been her that did the murder.

Because the old man said his gun was missing for a long time ... and the little kid said he put the gun back in the shed right after the shooting.

They did not say if there were any forensics done on the gun, but that seemed like a big thing to me, unless I just misinterpretted it.

It was also weird how everything flew apart at the end. The daughter went off the Berkeley, and the writer moved away. Even the mother was going to start dating that old fella who she had the affair with. And everyone else in the town was criminal or screwed up or alcoholic or drug addicted.

I thought she'd offer to let her son's GF (mother of Drew) move in with them, since she was struggling and could be with her son. The ending theme seemed to be all about forgiveness, so it would've been better that way.

Didn't care for the kid being the killer (I though Lor was) but overall, v good series.

I just watched and came to ask the same question. Amazing show btw, but uhh the mom needed to have been arrested. It's not as though the cops didn't know her involvement.
