Titanic Meets LA Confidential

In 1997, the sinkable Titanic became an unstoppable Best Picture winner...but a better movie just missed (winning Best Adapted Screenplay as its consolation prize -- so many "near miss" Best Pictures win that prize.)

It was the great LA Confidential.

Consequently, it was a little bit funny and oddly heartening to see Kate Winslet(from Titanic) and Guy Pearce(from LA Confidential) in this series together as fast friends and tentative lovers.

Its been over 20 years, but she still has her beauty and he still has his chiseled handsomeness.

I wonder if they talked about their 1997 "entwined movie fate."

Winslet and Pearce played together in the miniseries Mildred Pierce (2011) too, so maybe they talked about the ‘90s back then.

Cant see Winslet has a hardened detective

You're kidding, I watched this and never recognized Guy Pearce? And Memento may have been my favorite movie 5 minutes ago? I mean it is now, I presume it was five minutes ago.

Whoops ...forgot that they made THAT one together.

I suppose in any era, there's really only a small group of actors and they will cross paths on different movies. i've oftened wondered how that goes. Do they have a reunion and talk over the older movie? Or do they just proceed with the work?

A little more depressing : Winslet and Pearce may have talked about their 1997 hits in 2011 -- and the movies were then 14 years old.

And now it is 11 years after 2011, and 25 years after 1997.

Time flies...and waits for no one.
