Why wrap the show?

It’s probably the most successful TV show in history, and is certainly a license to print money. So why would HBO end it?

reply

I guess GRRM never would habe agreed to the show if they had suggested to make it an indefinitely ongoing series, inventing new storylines as they go.

It was revealed that HBO wanted a few more seasons but Dan and Dave prefer to end it earlier so they can move on to other projects.

Of course, the Star Wars trilogy they’re doing

They should have put episodes 08.01, 08.02, 08.03 in the last season.
They should have closed season 7 with the climax of the Night King's demise.
Season 7 was almost always stressing out how the dead were the real danger anyway. They should have made that season the "walkers" arc, that would feel more complete and with a better closure.

And then, they would make a complete 8th season, with 10 episodes, where Dany's descent into madness would be more fleshed out.
Cersei could be finished in episode 8 or 9, and Dany could flip at this moment as well, but with more background and with more desperation.

Sounds great to me.
I wish they had done it your way.

reply

Because everything has to end sometime.
