Robert Jordan’s fantasy epic The Wheel of Time coming to Amazon

This is another set of novels inspired by The Lord of the Rings and Tolkien, much like A Song of Ice and Fire.

Hopefully, like "ASOIAF", the saga will get the ruthless editing it needed all along!

Have you read it?

The first few books. I just couldn't get through the last ten thousand pages.

Editing is everything. I know an English professor who has a question on his final, “Who is the author of The Waste Land?” The correct answer is Ezra Pound, who distilled T.S. Eliot’s ponderous verbiage into a masterpiece.

From what I gather, it's a LOT more like Lord of the Rings than asoiaf. In other words, it's more like a proper fantasy tale - pure good vs. pure evil, and the rest of that nonsense. And it's 14 books - many initial fans of the books weren't able to get to the end because of too much filler material. In other words, it seems to be supbar to the Game of Thrones in nearly every way.

Here is how one reader compares Jordan's work with some other Fantasy Epics, including lord of the rings and game of thrones - http://www.members.tripod.com/~wotiscrap/comp.html
Needless to say, Jordan does not come off well.
