Can you imagine the change of tone in the film?

They'd eat until they exploded.

Her mom would take it and leave Precious behind. She was only using Precious.

Her mom would still abuse precious. her mom only cared about herself.

The greedy mom would try to take all the money but Precious would eventually rightfully get her half of it.

Both would be dead within 6 months.
