It's actually a damn good film if watched immediately after CR

QOS us a bare bones revenge film that serves as a great epilogue to CR.

I loved it too, it was one of the most underrated films, I liked it more than Spectre.

Sure, it's an epilogue to CR. But it doesn't stand strongly on its own as a standalone story.

reply

It doesn't need to

I believe that any movie should stand on its own as a strong self-contained story, and not just as an afterthought to some other movie. That's a waste of millions of dollars.

It also turns James Bond into a soap opera/TV series...

I much prefer stand alone movies

An afterthought to some other movie? That's called a sequel. This is a sequel.

I get your point, and I do prefer self contained Bond stories, but I don't find it's any worse of a movie because it isn't.

reply

"The Empire Strikes Back" is a sequel.
"The Dark Knight" is a sequel.

QoS is a mere afterthought.

Exactly my thoughts on this movie. It's an epilogue to CR. It's also one of my favorite Bond films. But I get where the haters are coming from. This movie doesn't really stand on its own two legs as a proper film. I got a Bond buddy who ranks this right at the bottom of the catalog, he refuses to even watch it again. But just like the original Bond stories are sometimes just short stories and the like, I think this is an amazing addition to the series.
