Anybody watch this more than once?
Interesting movie, but once in a lifetime is good for me.
shareTHREE TIMES...MAYBE...ITS BEEN A WHILE THOUGH...I IMAGINE I WILL END UP UPGRADING MY DVD TO BLU RAY AT SOME POINT IN THE NEAR FUTURE...PROBABLY REWATCH IT THEN.
shareAfter Rediscovering The Assassination of Jesse james and remembering those two were up for the Same awards i think its time for a rewatch. I remembering owning a very thin dvd case of this & maybe watched it once the whole time I had it.
shareIt was less exciting then I thought it would be, and at several points the droning soundtrack was irritating
shareI've seen this and The Master many times. One of my favourite movies.
shareI saw it twice because the first time in a theater there were noisy kids fucking up my experience.
The movie overall doesn't give us much of a story. It's more of a character study of a man with no story arc. He enters the story pretty much on the same terms as he exits it.
He wants to be successful and live in solitude. The movie never explores why he is this way though, only briefly after he kills his imposter brother and he grieves after glancing through a family memoir with pics. It does show us the how which in itself is engaging, but on a grander scale we get nothing more from his character.
I felt the exact same way the first time I saw it. Appreciated it, but never wanted to watch it again. I've since watched it about 4 times and appreciated it more upon subsequent viewings. You gotta be in the mood for it. PTA's "Inherent Vice" however, I've watched maybe 20 times and never tire of it.
