My favorite moment of the movie was when he left her behind because I knew I wouldn’t have to hear her anymore. I literally cheered.
Just re-watched for the first time in years. I don't remember her annoying me much before, but this time her constant screechy shrieking did get on my nerves.
As for her and her older brother acting like jerks, they were obviously reacting to the fact that their dick of a dad was a neglectful piece of shit. I blame him, not them. The story was basically really about the horrible events of the alien invasion causing him to finally become a good father.
