who else felt bad for ronnie?

i mean, he may have liked kids but he hated himself for his feelings towards them. this film really does show a new light on paedophilia, it shows it as the psycho-sexual disorder it is not just portraying them as men who can't get women their own age. ronnie and no other paedohpile chose to be a paedophile, ronnie himself said he wished he liked older women. i was 14 when i first watched this and am 18 now and i still feel the same. he had a sad life, no-one would chose it.

he served his time

but in all fairness.. what he did was wrong

anyone who sexually exposed themselves to kids shouldn't get into a pool with children

same as a drunk driver shouldn't be behind the wheel of a car

He may have "liked" little kids? You are really minimizing what a monster he was. I felt bad he wasn't left to bleed to death on the swing. That guy without his mother would be ruining one kid after another. I save my sympathy for the victims of child molestation, not the perpetrators.

I did, but the masturbation scene really freaked me out.

Honestly, I can't understand how anyone could not feel sympathy for Ronnie. Yes, what he did was wrong, but he's served his time. He's acknowledged his problem. And while he did fall back on his old habit in the date he went on, he still never REALLY hurted anyone. There's a huge difference between jacking off in front of someone and forcefully sticking your penis in them.

I honestly feel as though society would be a better place if pedophilia was acknowledged more as a mental illness, rather than a trait of evil. 'Cause like you said, no one CHOSE to be a pedophile. In the same way that no one chose to be gay or straight. It's simply a sickness in the brain. If we're willing to accept this, then there might just be hope that we may someday be able to cure it. Empathy is humanity's greatest strength. To combat evil, we must first understand it. And to do so, we must first acknowledge that it's in us all.

Inb4 people call you a pedophile in typical IMDb fashion.

I agree. Sometimes I wonder if people just like feeling morally superior to others, so they go after the easiest targets. I'm not excusing criminal behaviour by any means, but there's a difference between thought and action.

Sympathy for Ronnie. NO. He goes out with a woman who has troubles but she seemed nice. Then he does that. And when he got out of the pool and everyone is staring at him and he yells I was only trying to cool off. BS. He went there to check out all the kids.
