Honestly, I can't understand how anyone could not feel sympathy for Ronnie. Yes, what he did was wrong, but he's served his time. He's acknowledged his problem. And while he did fall back on his old habit in the date he went on, he still never REALLY hurted anyone. I honestly feel as though society would be a better place if pedophilia was acknowledged more as a mental illness, rather than a trait of evil. 'Cause like you said, no one CHOSE to be a pedophile.
