Q. Has there been a good werewolf film since AWiL??

Blood and chocolate....c*ck and b*llocks!! This film was terrible beyond words.

More of the Twilight, Underworld, Buffy, Ginger Snaps rubbish. Teen angst, nobody understands me, goth nonsense that just makes me retch. Why is it impossible to make a good werewolf movie...y'know one with werewolves as people painfully shapeshifting from man to wolf and then being a nightmare for the population. Instead of this Dawson's Creek with bad effects trash that we get these days.

So does anyone know anything in the genre that is actually any good? The last one that i saw that was good fun was American Werewolf in London.

American Werewolf in London is really good, as is the Howling. I have heard folks who liked Ginger Snaps-but I didn't enjoy it all. I thought it was really cheap looking and was pretty boring.

Dog Soldiers is actually pretty clever. It goes the B movie route, and the ideas are pretty well done. I won't say the werewolves are entirely convincing, but it's still a better time than others. Company of Wolves is weird and interesting.

I take it that you only like the wolf as a monster. Did you see Silver bullet ?

reply

Werewolfism should be a curse imo so ideally yeah it should be monstrous. I'm not a teenage girl expecting werewolves and vampires to be portrayed as some Emo kid. 😁

But more importantly, I just like movies that are written well.

There are numerous quality werewolf flicks since 1981; here are a handful:

Big Bad Wolf (2006)
Never Cry Werewolf (2008)
Wolves (2014)
Howling V: The Rebirth (1989)
Howling VI: The Freaks (1991)
Wolf (1994)
Red Riding Hood (2011)

A few of these are rather low budget, but they're all worthwhile for one reason or another.

Yes. Emphatically, but you don’t deserve the answer.
