I'm always at a loss as to why they were together. Assuming her three kids all had the same dad and she hadn't been cheating, it just seems hard to believe that she'd been with him long enough to put up with that kind of abuse from him.
shareHappens all the time, though. Husband dies and especially when kids are involved any woman will latch onto a provider and a support system. Maybe Ronnie was a con man sweet talker before he got all busted up or a really good faker and conned her into believing he was a good person then once he's there, entrenched, better than nothing, especially the income, which before his accident might have actually helped.
There too, maybe it was take what you can get at this point. Some people shy away from strippers who earn their living dancing naked and doing whatever else with other guys for money. Especially with a teenager, a 10 year old and a baby. 3 kids that range and even Michael's behavior are put offish. Then again, Ronnie was no prize either, in reality. So maybe it was they needed each other.
Hard to say, but sadly a real life story....see it all the time.

Sadly it happens often in life. I have a childhood friend who by the time she was in her mid 20s she had 3 kids and a single mom. She was with a few boyfriends who were abusive and trash. She was even threatened a few times to lose her kids if she didn’t get the man out of the house.
shareRonnie was a pretty typical white trash dad or man. I grew up with a childhood friend whose dad was like him.
