This movie or Django?

Both had a lot of cool violence and shootings but this movie had the better colors, dialogue and thought processses

Gotta say, I am a huge Inglourious Basterds fan. Both films are outstanding, but for me IB has better re-watch value. Django is nearly unwatchable at times, not because it was poorly done but because of the subject matter. For whatever reason, I found IB more accessible and alternately hilarious and more suspenseful.

The basement tavern scene is one of my favorite scenes in all cinema history. Truly one of a kind.

Gotta agree on the basement scene. It was so unique and tension filled , that German guy who knew accents was relentless!

The only thing I didn't like was the ram rodding King Kong lecture which is BS anyway. Its some new age agenda driven leftist nonsense to look at it in that context and anybody would would see it in that context is a racist for sure!

reply

The King Kong reference was funny, I thought. Not because it mattered whether we agree or disagree with the analogy, but because it was a Nazi saying it. The irony was intentional. I didn't read any agenda into that speech, just an effort to portray the Nazi officer as more thoughtful than we might think. I agree with you it probably wasn't necessary to the story, but that never stopped Tarantino before. Anyway, that whole scene sticks with me, and I can watch it over and over and not be bored.

That is an interesting perspective. That is an epic scene, nothing like it in Django, or most movies for that matter.

reply

Django, no contest.

Apart from the hammer scene, I enjoyed and got some laughs out of Django.

I enjoyed Ingluorious Basterds more than Django as it has one of the best intense scenes in movies. Christoph brings out his best perfomance and the Basterds are such fun characters to watch. I feel satisfied after watching this and while Django is also great, its story of revenge gets a bit old for me

reply

Inglorious Basterds without question.

reply

Django Unchained; more action and much more violent and faster paced

reply

hmmm IB i guess

neither

For sure Django. I can’t quite place why, I’m sure it’s multiple reasons, but I just really didn’t like “Inglorious Bastards” at all. Thought Pitt’s acting/accent etc was off & didn’t care for any of the characters.
In fact “Inglorious Bastards” might be my least liked Tarantino film. I get that many don’t agree though.
