Should have been Leo Oscar win

Truly take a step back and look at this performance. A legend of director, but even more than Howard Hughes. This man had so many issues but Leo still brought the goodness out. There is only one time in my life that I believe the Oscars got it wrong and that was Val Kilmer for his performance in Tombstone. But Leo deserved the Oscar for his performance. Just my opinion

The only role he truly deserved the award for (and yes, it wasnt The Revenant) was Django Unchained.

You know, you're right! That was the one role where we didn't see the visible effort that mars his try-hard performances in dramatic roles like this one. In "Django", he's light and charming, yet terrifying.

Here in "The Aviator", which I'm currently watching, you can see him working to be as intense as possible, and the effort shows. That's not the sort of performance I like to see rewarded.

I don't recall the competition that year, but I thought Leo did a masterful job.

I just can't get over that watching this movie was like watching a high school play with a 17 year old playing Ebenezer Scrooge. DeCaprio just could not pull of a man of maturity IMO.

DeCaprio was just wrong for this film. It bothered me all through the film the first time I watched it and it bothered me again recently watching it.

I'm not privy to why votes were cast they way they were, but I suspect the lack of maturity being transferred to the big screen is a reason why.

I found him out of his depth in The Aviator - he looked like a young boy playing dress-up, and struggled to sustain the accent.

His best work IMO is What's Eating Gilbert Grape?, The Departed and The Wolf of Wall Street.
