Why do people hate this?

I hated this movie. It’s on my worst movies of all time list. I never read the book. I haven’t seen it since it was released in theaters, so I don’t remember specifics. It was definitly marketed horribly. The trailer seemed like it was from a different movie. Morgan Freeman has only like six minutes of screen time. I was pretty pumped to see it though: Freeman, Jason Lee and Stephen King.

It’s actually one of my favorites too. The only reason I get for the hate is it’s different from the book. I admit I haven’t read it but there are many movies I hate because it’s different from the book. I’ll have to add this to my read list.

Might have something to do with the nightmarish images and the "shit weasel" aliens.
