Tom Welling admits that Smallville became "far-fetched" to delay Clark's heroic transformation

"Each time we got picked up [for a new season] we had to push that finish line further away, and I think we had some low moments when we got too far-fetched," he admitted

"If you look at the series, the first five years were one show and the next five were a different show," he said. "We could have called [the last five seasons] Metropolis."

Pretty accurate.

Smallville was at its best in those first 5 seasons.

The premise changed after that.

The whole show was a five year plan that lasted ten seasons.

Probably other things Tom wishes they could taken with the characters.

If it lasted five seasons could've done a time jump finale with Clark returning home after training at the Fortress or travelling the world saving people, seeing his friends have moved on.

Side note: Are you listening to the podcast between Michael and Tom, Talkville? You get so much insight into the show, I'm loving it.

Parts of it that interest me, it will go on for years until you hear stuff like a five year plan, a better transformation into Superman towards the end.

They have a separate channel with clips of their podcasts, where I comment.

What are the separate channels? Can you link them?
