Underrated movie

To be honest when I first heard about this movie I had no interest in it whatsoever, I remember seeing a trailer for it while seeing another film and from the trailer, I was thinking "what a load rubbish, another annoying talking animal movie". But however after then I never really heard much about the movie, I can't even remember it getting much publicity in the cinema's. It must have been in and out in no time.

Eventually I got it on VHS for my birthday unexpectedly and wasn't to excited in giving it a viewing but eventually one day I did look at it with my family and to our surprise it was a really good movie. It's not perfect but I always find it a good guilty pleasure, it's funny, it's slapstick and got good pacing. Normally a film paced in a desert, can be very slow and boring, but this didn't really have this problem at all.

It also feels like one of those few good direct to video movies. It wasn't meant for the big screen, it was meant for the small screen.

I'm not sure if anyone as ever had this problem but when I mention this movie to people no one seems to have heard of this movie, not shown enough on tv.

Yeah boy! Here are my thoughts:

I'm a be straight up with you, this is one of my guilty pleasure. (Rating of 4.4/10!)
At first sight, the movie has all the right ingredients to be a total mess but somehow, everything worked fine for me. The main duo is enjoyable and just stupid enough to keep it funny. We got Christopher Walken doing what he does best, so does Michael Shannon.( I just love those two actors. ) We got the friendship, the girl, the bad guys, the badder guys and finally, the kangaroo. I can safely say that it's better than Cop out, and Ride Along. I have a feeling that the movie is being severely judged because most people expected a movie about a talking kangaroo or something. Anyways, perfect Saturday afternoon family movie. 6.8/10!

Agree with both you. 4.4 is way too low for this movie.. people are taking themselves way too serious.

reply

Yeah because people have different opinions automatically means they "take themselves too seriously"... -.- get over yourself.

Btw, I enjoyed Kangaroo Jack.

I didn't see it in theatres because it didn't look interesting. One time it came on HBO and decided "What the heck." Never regretted it. There were parts where I just roared out loud.

It's okay, but overall mediocre. The three protagonists are likable, the Outback locations are great, the two guys have amusing camaraderie and the conservationist woman is beautiful, but the story isn't compelling and the lens generally drops the ball with the female (I forget her name). I give it a C or C+ tops.

It's a bit of nonchalant fun. I saw it on TV yesterday so some channels do show it. 4.4 is a bit low. I've rated it 5/10.
