The person playing Liz is SUCH A BAD ACTRESS

Good god, she's horrible. Why would they cast her? She has no real emotion, can't deliver her lines properly. It's just cringe worthy to watch her. I hope she's gotten better at acting but I'm currently on Season 1 and it's so hard to concentrate when she's on screen and talking. UUUGHH. The person playing Matt is bad too. Not as bad as this Applebee person, but still as bad. The other three characters can act. That Michael guy, Isabelle, and Maria are all decent. I have no idea why they chose those two to play the main roles when they're both the weakest at acting. Barf.

I don't think she's a bad actress, but her character is pretty annoying. Liz and Max are cute at first but become unbearable as the seasons go on.

The only thing I hate about the actress rather than the character is how she can't pronounce words that end in -ing. She always ends the words with a K sound which drives me nuts. I've been thinkingk Max... Ugh.

Yeah, and ever thought about why that is ?

She always sounds like she's got a stuffed up nose and it's so freaking annoying!! Ugh!! Her nasal problem and her inability to pronounce words or over enunciation of certain words drives me nuts on what could potentially be one of my favorite shows!

I agree that actress Shiri Appleby who plays Liz is not as strong compared to the others. Certainly noticeable in Season 1. The others are just amazing; I thought Jason Behr's (Max) ability to tear up/cry on cue was pretty impressive and Brendan Fehr's (Michael) comedic timing is great, too.

But as expected Shiri's acting improves as the seasons move forward. And I honestly thought her and Jason's (Max/Liz) chemistry on the show was way too good it distracted me from any acting flops.

I actually liked her and Liz's character. I can see how others wouldn't but I enjoyed her more then Maria and Michael who for some reason the fans love. I never understood that. In the third episode she almost ratted them out to the sheriff.

Nah, she's okay, it's Emilie De Ravin who is a terrible actress. She wasn't much better in LOST either.

She's unbelievably bad. You even catch her eyes making 'eye contact' with the camera several times per show, an unintentional breaking of the fourth wall that's a no-no unless required for dramatic impact.

Plus, smiling -- she's nearly always smiling or trying to stop a smile when it's just not appropriate to the scene. There are some actors and even singers who seem so self conscious about being on camera that they can't suppress a nervous smirk.

I thought that the actor who played Michael, Brendan Fehr was terrible, he had only one note in every episode, his character had good writing too but he did nothing with it. I actually liked his character because of the storyline but, woww was he flat.

I've been a fan of the show since it's initial airing. Just did a revisit this summer. I have to agree Appleby is pretty bland and cringe at times, as is Emilie De Raven, Hanks, and Behr.

The MVP of the series was always William Sadler. Delfino and Fehr had great chemistry, and were always a lot of fun to watch. Though short lived the dude playing Nasedo was awesome. Heigl does her usual bitch routine, and Wechsler was fine. I know you can chalk it up to it being some of their early works and what have you. But De Raven was a lil bit better on Lost, but still not that good. Appleby was a little bit better on life Unexpected, but still not that good. Hanks got better, and while I like him, he has his limitations as an actor. Behr I just accepted him as Max Evans, but another limited actor.

I think part of the problem with the show is that they went the typical WB casting route and casted looks over talent. Had they had a better balance the show could have aged better than it has.
