Showers in high school

I always see so many shows and movies where it looks like people have all the time in the world to shower! They are taking their time, not rushing.

We never had time for a shower in high school. We were usually dismissed 5 minutes before the bell, so all we could do was quickly change, maybe wipe quickly with a disposable towlet, and reapply deodorant.

Do schools like this exist? Where? And was it last period? Also, what years?

reply

I never showered after PE.

reply

There were in my school but I think they were more for sports teams after practice

It took me forever to get used to taking communal showers. I saw one kid wore his gym shorts under his clothing

reply

We never had time in high school. There was just enough to get dressed and make it to your next class before the bell rang.

I don't remember having to shower after PE in high school, but our junior high school had a swimming pool and they made us shower after swimming to wash off the chlorine. Hated it. Those showers were nothing but germ and plantar wart pits.

reply

In my school showering after PE was mandatory. You could, and kids were, put into detention if they didn't shower.

reply

How much time were you given?

reply

Classes were an hour. Any gym classes were 45 minutes to allow shower and travel time. Our school wasn't very large. At the time I was attending about 600. Its about 1100 now.

reply

Truth, they act like it's spa time, like they get a whole extra period just to shower

reply

I remember they would bring the girls in 15-20 minutes early so they could shower but hey screw the guys you can stink all day.

reply

My high school never had a showering requirement and nobody did but only some of the boys really worked up a sweat.
