Will we ever see hype like this again?

The hype for this was amazing! Water coolers, donut shops, fast food IT WAS EVERWHERE.

Will we ever see this again

I hope not cause the movie was downright terrible and for the amount of times the chick from the Steak & Shake Commercials from back in the day said the word fuck in every bit of dialogue she had?? If I were the other 2, I would've ditched her out of being annoying..

We'll never see hype like this for a film characterized as a "found footage" again in all likelihood.

The marketing for this film was brilliant. And if you were lucky enough to catch it in the first or second week before it exploded in popularity while being unsure as to whether it was truly found footage or not, then you probably had a blast watching it.

I know I did.

I think it lasted for more than a week or two. Even if you heard it wasn’t real, a lot people dismissed it as a rumor. I wasn’t fully convinced it wasn’t real until I looked it up on IMDb a few years later and saw that they were actors.

But yeah, it came out at the right time. If a movie tried that today, it would be debunked immediately

Damn it was SO cool back in the day. I was relatively young when it was released in theatres but a lot of the older kids at school were talking about it. I don't think I finally watched it until a few years later when it came out on VHS (or maybe DVD, one of the two). That's classic 90s/early 00s for you though, everything was maximum hype because no/limited internet exposure.

I went camping with some friends in Maryland the week after we watched it…make fun all you want….but the fear adrenaline was real.

I think the only way you could do this would be to release something in YouTube on a random account but it would have to be a slasher, basically something that could easily be real
