How the hell

Did the ring fit a hobbit finger.

reply

It's not a regular Ring. Remember Sauron was its creator and his hand was thrice the size of Isildur's hand, so it shifts its shape to fit its bearer.

reply

This is correct, in the books it's made clear that the ring will resize itself to fit whoever is wearing it.

Tiny hobbit fingers, or a giant wearing it over his gauntlet, the One Ring will fit you!

reply

One Ring to fit them all!

reply

It resize according to the bearer, there is a scene somewhere in the trilogy where the ring resize

reply

Yep, it's one of the flashbacks of Isildur picking up Sauron's severed finger and taking the ring off it. The ring is bloody huge when he removes it, then while he's holding it and looking at it, it shrinks. I'm pretty sure the scene is in Fellowship, but not part of the flashback at the beginning.
