Do you deem this a forgotten movie ?

Compared to most films today this is a masterpiece.

It's rarely mentioned by people. I think it's because it was directed by Scorsese and the man has one of the most amazing, multi-decade oeuvres of any filmmaker in history!

reply

I agree. It’s a great movie. But admittedly probably Scorsese’s weakest film due to his stellar resume.

reply

Maybe, although it feels like a sin to call this film weak. It's great!

People act like it was released in secret and nobody ever knew about it. Granted, it didn't have a marketing campaign or anything, but anyone even mildly interested in movies should have known about it when it came out. But yes, it's like it's been buried since then. Very similar in that way to After Hours. I agree with a previous poster re: it's a great movie, but in the context of Scorsese's insanely stupendous body of work, "great" isn't actually saying all that much.

reply

It was never even released on Blu-ray. Yes, it's a hidden gem.
