The film was basically...

... (and an overall unimpressive, average film no more than 5/10 from me IF even that!) a 2000 amalgamation of "The Blue Lagoon" (1980), "Lord of the Flies" (1990), "Jaws" (1975), "Apocalypse Now" (1979) and Castaway (1986) (though you may indeed also find similarities, if that one isn't an official remake of that one, with the 2000 film "Castaway" as well starring Tom Hanks) with a little bit of Danny Boyle's own style from his other 90s works and even the DiCaprio flick "Titanic" (1997)-influence can be felt in small segments here, around it.

And did most of us feel that this movie really did, and quite heavily at times too, borrow ideas and influences from those movies and also, in this case, didn't exactly stand on its own legs and didn't really bring any real freshness to the material and lacked originality, for the most part at least anyways? I sort of felt this way.

It was basically like a mixture of all those films and a few others and their related styles for the MTV generation of the new millennium.

And it wasn't totally bad but was overall rather average and is possible that it could be Danny Boyle's weakest work or one of his weakest for sure.

"when nordic men are eating by shark"

Do you mean eaten by shark?

"they want thing (paradise) but when there is consequence and responsibilitys the woketard find this imconvenience and no not want to know."

Been drinking?

You should not drink and post.

He's not drinking. English is not his first language. Now calm the fuck down and focus on the topic. Are you high?

reply

This would have been sufficient-

"He's not drinking. English is not his first language."

OK. How am I supposed to know? English is not his first language. Got it.

Then you added-

"Now calm the fuck down and focus on the topic. Are you high?"

I will not resort to profanity. No, and get stuffed.

Dude, you attack the guy and then wonder why I ask you to take the stick outta your arse.

reply

I didn't "attack" the guy. I just asked if he had been drinking and sent a joke video. Enough said.

What do you think of the post (on this thread) I sent a few minutes ago? I defended and praised the film.

reply

Okay, I saw this film years ago, but liked it.

I see TheMan18. You were not impressed. It was not original or very good so you came to this board to rain on fans of the film.

I, personally, think it was original and a very good film. Part of the originality is the time it was filmed. It was still the early days of the Internet, before Google Maps, smartphones and social media.

A more innocent time when travelling was still very much an adventure.

The "secret map" hideaway is, alas, something from the past. I have watched this movie 3 or 4 times. I like that it brings me back to that time and place.

Even the iMac he uses in the ‘internet cafe’ at the end rubs my nostalgia gland.

This film, in some ways, illustrates the end of the 20th Century.

A good movie.
