Aside from Jessica Alba

What's the real problem with this movie? Let's face it. The Fantastic Four was always meant to be corny. I think that maybe Chris Evans's Johnny Storm kind of stole the show and Charlize Theron would've made a better Sue Storm. BUT it's SOOO much better than the reboot, which feels completely wrong for The Fantastic Four.

Get off your soapbox while I play you a tune on the tiniest violin.

It's not awful but, besides Jessica Alba, Ioan Gruffud is also bland, there are only two action scenes, neither of which are exciting, the special effects are mostly awful for a big budget blockbuster, the cinematography is bland and makes the movie look like a direct to dvd movie rather than a big budget SFX blockbuster, and the movie lacks a big scale.

That being said, it's not really an awful movie just forgettable and kinda boring. And, yeah, it's better than the reboot (although, at least the reboot had good cinematography).

This was never a blockbuster, todd.

I wonder how Heather Graham or Jeri Ryan would've fared as Sue Storm (if they wanted a hot babe to play the Invisible Woman)? The thing about Jessica Alba is that they had to try really hard to "whitewash" her (the blonde Barbie Doll wig, the freaky contact lenses). Plus, she's not that much older than Chris Evans even though Sue is supposed to be the big sister among the Storms.

Still better than that 2015 nightmare they forced on us.

I think the main problem, more than Jessica Alba, was just the way Sue was written. I don't know about her personality in the comics, but she was really rude, impatient, unsympathetic, and overly emotional in this movie. I can bear with it, but honestly, half the time, I'm wondering why Reed even likes her.
She mellows out in the second one a bit, but is only a little bit better.

“I wonder why Reed likes her.”

Are you blind? Gay? Female? Prepubescent? Some combination thereof?

This was a time in Jessica Alba's career where she was miscast in every movie she got, god if there's not a better example of miscasting her than this, one she's not a natural blonde she's like a Latina descent and was way too young, she doesn't have a mature womanly voice just has a teen like Brittany Spears voice.
