Choosing illiterate cop for M.I.B. makes no sense
When Will's character chases down the Extra-Terrestrial that illogically has GILLS in their EYES (facepalm), that actually blinked SIDEWAYS..
(although Tommy-Lee Jones' character hand-gestures it being the same way we normally blink, which wouldn't even make sense, because then it couldn't be easily confused with 'entirely different set of eyelids' - also, if you are out of breath, is that the only situation where you actually use gills? What kind of sense would it make to put gills where the EYES are instead of where respiration most logically happens in bipedal bodies? Also also, wouldn't he blink those gills a bit more rapidly? Also also also, SINCE WHEN do gills look like eyelids, and since when do you need to 'blink' them like that if you are out of breath, and and.. AARGH!)..
..we hear Will's character then sarcastically tell him (and the audience) what he thinks the acronym 'N.Y.P.D.' means (full well knowing it means 'New York Police Department', of course), and he says something like this:
"..I will.. Knock Your Punk-áss Down!"
Does anyone yet see the weird error he made?
If we forget that he omitted the word 'áss' for some reason, we can focus on the first word and the silent 'k'.
Why would he think the word 'Knock' begins with the letter 'N'?
That's like thinking the word 'Pneumonia' starts with the letter 'N'!
How the hell does a supposedly 'more intelligent than the best of the best, sir!' not know simple english - HIS OWN, NATIVE LANGUAGE - enough to be able to replace an acronym with another one?
How can Will's character not know that he can't use the word 'KNOCK' to replace 'NEW', because it does NOT begin with the same letter?
HOW?!
It makes no sense. Sure, a stupid cop can make that mistake, but this is supposed to be not only intelligent, but SUPER intelligent, because he's chosen over statistically 'more intelligent' people, if that makes sense.
Why does this organization choose someone that is so stupid, he can't even understand kindergarten-level english grammar?
This makes NO sense.
