Pretty sadly bad..

Surprised to see that some people actually really like this movie! To each their own but for myself the few scenes with Joely Richardson were the only redeeming thing of this movie.

Was this not basically the same plot as Sphere? Others have mentioned a few other movies as well... plot rehashes are not necessarily bad if done well but it seemed that most all the actors (especially Fishburne and Sam Neill) were just going thru the motions of their overly stereotyped characters.

The Cooper character (I like the actor, but this character was so over the top!) produced more cringe-worthy scenes than any I can recall in a long time... I was actually embarrassed just watching it alone.

Did you really feel the need to come on IMDB just to troll the community with your personal opinion? Liking a movie is based on people's particular tastes.... you don't have to be "Surprised" that someone likes a film just because you find it bad or horrible. I have given movies with ratings of less than 5 a score of 8 or more.

that's so speshul.

Pretty sadly badly written thread title.

don't get me wrong - EH is not a perfect movie and definitely has it's flaws... but I still find it pretty freaky! It's on my scary movie list every October :)

this movie sucks.

I saw it when it came out and liked it but at the same time was a little disappointed with it. Now the more I watch it the more I like it. I was disappointed with the sci-fi mixed with horror at first and now it has grown on me. About Cooper being over the top, there are so many people who act just like him in real life so it didn't bug me or seem hard to believe. Lots of crazy people in the world too so Weir going crazy could happen to another person in a similar situation. Now I just take it for what it is, entertainment.

This movie was much better than Sphere, though the plots did share some similar points. I actually think that Prometheus took a lot of things from this film. "This ship is a tomb." Vs "This is just another tomb." Is not exactly the same, but d@mn if it doesn't feel the same in its delivery.

Sphere was infinitely better - it’s a compelling sci-fi with strong characters, great actors, and an intriguing mystery. It’s doesn’t quite stick the landing but the ride is worthwhile. EH is painfully dumb and bland.

this film helped him launch his career so why attack it. I loved it back then and I still do, it's his newer films that are sub par.

Paul went from Artist to studio stooge.

I see you're opinion and accept it, I guess not everyone likes the same things. It would be a boring world if everyone did like everything.
