Heat is a million times better than The Irishman

Robert De Niro and Al Pacino were perfectly casted in Heat, it's too bad I can't say the same thing about their roles in The Irishman.

Michael Mann used the right two actors for the leading roles in Heat. Martin Scorsese used the wrong two actors for the leading roles in The Irishman.

Heat is way better, it's a masterpiece, it's excellent every time I watch it. The Irishman is a not even close to being a masterpiece, the more I watch it, the worse it gets.

Though, I will say Joe Pesci's supporting role as Russell Bufalino in The Irishman was perfectly casted. I'll give Scorsese top marks for that decision.

Using one movie to bash another movie.

What's the point? Just because two actors appear in the same movie?

Why cant you simply say you don't like the Irishman and why?

reply

I agree. One has nothing to do with the other. No matter how true it may be.

reply

Wait a second... if it is true - how does it not matter?
You kinda contradict yourself here.

I agree it's silly what OP did and I don't agree with his logic... but yours isn't exactly working out either, is it.

True = fact.
Facts always matter.

So what will it be?

I mean heat is better that the Irishman. But no need to compare em. Thought that was obvious.

I'm in agreement with this. I'll never watch the Irishman again, but I've watched Heat three times. To be fair though Heat benefited from 'lightning in a bottle' supporting cast which included some great character actors... Val Kilmer, Jon Voight, Tom Sizemore, William Fichtner, Ted Levine, Tom Noonan etc. The Irishman really only had Joe Pesci -- who came out of retirement and was excellent -- and Harvey Keitel. (Where has he disappeared to these last few years?) Heat's story was more intense and the visuals in this are the best Mann has ever done imo.

Also Pacino and De Niro were in their prime with egos and talent to match in Heat. The Irishman's de-aging CGI couldn't disguise their advanced ages and subdued energy and was downright distracting at times. It kind of smelled of stunt casting and I also think they should have gone with younger actors.

reply

Yeah Heat is an incredibly compelling movie with some great action. The Irishman was just boring imo.
