Jim Carrey was insufferable!

This was basically PEAK Jim Carrey comedy era. There was This, In living color, Ace Ventura, The Mask & Liar, Liar all in the span of 3 years. His rubbery body & over the top delivery. It worked in the others for me but I genuinely couldn't stand him in this & I still can't to this day

And I know I'm definitely in the minority here. Cause I've seen a lot people be like, "He's the best part of the movie". And I'm over here like, I can't stand his Riddler. And Tommy Lee Jones is NOT helping. Trying to "Out Jim Carrey" Jim Carrey? Yeah, you're making it worse.

I guess you could say, I couldn't sanction their buffoonery

Ace Ventura and The Mask yes but wasn't he dialed down a bit in Liar, Liar?

(Could be wrong - I only ever saw it at time of release but I always thought this was his first "acting" role...)

Compared to the others, yes. But he was still animated in that as well

I agree with the posts that his Edward Nygma character was far better and more convincing than his Riddler persona. He was still quite weird and eccentric, but weird and eccentric in a serious and believably convincing way. He just turned into a flat out goon cracking jokes whenever he had the Riddler costume on.

As for Two-Face, I thought he was even worse, there was hardly any characterization to him, all he did was display his mania. He acted more like The Joker than even the Riddler did. He would have been fine if he he had just been the same character in Under Siege. Make him serious as much as he is goofy, and still a realistically threatening villain. I did not find Two-Face/TLJ performance making him a threatening character in the slightest. He was the predecessor to Mr. Freeze.

TLJ tried to "out-goof" Jim Carrey & that's an almost impossible thing to do. Especially for such a serious actor like Tommy Lee Jones.

Carrey was super annoying but that's his whole schtick. Wtf was TLJ even going for?!?!
