Things we didn't notice....

I've watched this film well over 1000 times (majority on vhs in the 90's) so much so i know it word for word and exactly what happens in every scene.

Well at least i thought i did...With the digital revolution and increase in picture quality its has allowed us to maybe notice things we wouldn't have usuually been able to spot, for example some the CGI, although it still holds up to this day doesn't as good as what it was on vhs quality. Has anyone else noticed things in the background or things they may not have noticed when they first watched the film?

For example...

The blatant CGI'd hammond, ellie and grant during the brachiosaurus scene when the camera pans out towards the dinos in lake. (They dont seem to have any legs and are blatantly body doubles)

Also, in the first visitors centre entrance scene, there is a guy finishing off painting a half painted wall. I never noticed this until i got the blu ray for some reason.

Interesting, I'll have to try and look out for these things next time i'm watching it.

There's many goofs in JP that people simply won't see. a good example is when they're landing in the helicopter Hammond is over on the far right hand corner of the passenger cabin and yet when they land and it shows them getting out of the helicopter Hammond is sitting in a completely different seat.

I noticed that too, a bit of trvia.... apparently dummies were used when we see the helicopter landing because it was too dangerous to land them on the helipad.

reply

Oh ok I didn't know that. I know when the T-Rex smashes through the glass roof of the car the glass wasn't actually meant to break, The screams you hear are the genuine screams of fright from the two kids.

You've watched it well over 1,000 times?! WOW!!! If you watched it once a day every day, it would take 2 years and 9 months to watch it 1,000 times.

This is not a mistake. The fact that the park is incomplete when they visit it is foreshadowing and intentional.

It took me a few times watching to figure out what Nedry's plan was for stealing the embryos. That reminds me I wish Dodson had been the villain of the Lost World (like the novel it's based on) but instead they just made up a new character who isn't as intimidating. In the novel, Dodson actually tries to kill Sarah Hardy by pushing her off his ship.

I wish tom Hanks had been the villain in Jurassic world.

WE GOT DODSON HERE!

Did you miss the shaving cream can scene every time?

reply

I think just as a kid I didn't quite get how it worked.

They actually weren’t digital, they were the real actors shot in front of a green screen then composited over the shot of the lake.

Just noticed this thanks to HD:
When Dodson gets out of the taxi, he leaves the door open, and the driver in the background walks around the car to close it and makes a funny pissed off "flipping" gesture behind Dodson as he leaves.

Also a nice little detail thanks to the great HD sound: I realized that Nedry's Jeep has a canvas top. (The sound of the raindrops at the shot from inside the car when he finds the Diloph is in with him)
