The Holy Mountain (1973), which I just happened to see for the first time yesterday. Yes, these films do look very different, but the basic concept is very similar.

this is obviously a twilight zone like kind of a movie, and the closest resemblance is the twilight zone episode "the incredible world of horace ford". as i re watched this right off i was so tired of the radio tune he wakes up to every morning, the simple joke with him stepping in the puddle was set just right with him serious while the guy he had just given the usual manner was still there having a laugh, also the guy he meets in the stairway is a riot, as for someone not used with this tradition, the actual moment when they let the groundhog out became more spectacular after i had just seen the 2018 real event covered live on bbc news happening exactly the same to every point. it was strange when he asks her to slap him how she doesn't hesitate. i used to find the female lead very hard and demanding, but watching it again now he is clearly a constant prick and she has the bearable nice part. this has some similar themes to another harold ramis movie, "bedazzled", really enjoyable and fun one of my favorite movies to watch, and this may be a minority opinion, but i prefer bedazzled, perhaps partly because it's more easy going, while this is a great movie, it's not something i think works to watch repeatedly like bedazzled.

Happy Death Day is basically a college slasher version of Groundhod Day.
