Dr. Charles Nichols

So what part of the US is he supposed to be from? Holland, Michigan?

Oh wait, maybe it's Russian! He does sound exactly like General Georgi Koskov.

reply

I'm pretty sure the actor is Russian. He played an Italian gangster though in the 1988 Punisher film with Dolph Lundgren.

reply

No sweetie, Jeroen Krabbé is Dutch like I am, and has the thickest Dutch accent I have ever heard in Hollywood. It's ridiculous when he plays another nationality, he can only play himself, which is a pompous, campy Dutch guy.

reply

Sorry. I didn't know. I'm an American and can't recall ever meeting a fully Dutch person. I am distantly related to a Dutch Man from the 1800s through my Grandma's side.

reply

That's cool, but honestly, Krabbé could never pass for someone born and raised in the US with an accent like that, could he?

In my headcanon the character is a Dutch conman who fled to the US and adopted an alias. He's not even a real doctor!

reply

If only there was a way to look these things up and find out.

Maar je hebt plezier kijken naar de film?

reply

Good lord, don't use Google translate or you'll end up sounding like Madonna!

Ja, ik had plezier bij het kijken naar de film. Het was in de bioscoop.

LOL

I got "Maar je hebt plezier" from 'Smurfenbier' by Vadar Abraham...the rest was Google Translate though.

Geweldig

The Smurfs and an old guy in a bowler hat teaching kids how to drink and foreigners how to speak Dutch. What role models!😆

reply

😁

reply

The role was intended for Richard Jordan. When he got too sick to work, Krobbe stepped up and took the role.

reply

Yes, I know, and he would've been a 1000 times better.
