Frasier Celebrates Rape

I'm watching Frasier for the first time. I can't believe that Hollywood created an episode celebrating statutory rape. (Slow Tango in South Seattle)

I see news stories all the time where a teacher had sex with a student, and not once is it ever described as a romance.

well,

I can tell you this much

as a young male at school,
a rendezvous with the English teacher was mine, and all my friends, biggest fantasy.

as for this particular episode and it's contents,
I guess you could twist it into something vile

if you're inclined to do so...

reply

I guess your English lessons failed you, you know, those whole pesky capitalization and punctuation things.

reply

Or perhaps little snowflakes like yourself need to grow thicker skin.

reply

What was the age of consent in Washington back then?

reply

Most probably 16, which is the age he says he was.

reply

He was 17 & had just been accepted into college I believe

Better steer clear of Family Guy then...

As a former high school age male who had raging hormones, I think I can safely say that most of us had many sexual fantasies about hot female teachers. And given the headlines over the last ten years, it seems to happen every now and then.

That's not exactly sexual assault.

reply

Seems to be if it's a male teacher and female student...

Well we're not talking that, we're talking Frasier.

reply

Stupid thread, either way. Not rape.

He had been accepted to Harvard and that summer where they got together he was a HS graduate so it wasn't statutory rape, good grief.

reply

Long ago, when I was a shy teenager, I was sexually tutored by a lovely twenty-nine-year-old woman. It was a boy's dream come true. Bless her, wherever she is today.

reply

PROBABLY HELL...SHE WAS A RAPIST🙂

reply

Your title is garbage. Frasier in the episode when about 17 had a relationship with his piano teacher(Not high school teacher). That might be inappropriate but it is hardly rape.

Frasier certainly does not consider himself victimized so I get your complaint. There is an obvious double standard in how most people would view sex between a 35 year old man and a 17 year old girl vs the other way around.

reply

Rape is a strong word but what his piano teacher did was still grossly unethical. You don't sleep with a client even if it's a teen-age client who is enjoying it.
It's the same thing as Niles or Frasier sleeping with a patient even if the patient was thirty five. Some things you just don't do.
