Infinitely Rewatchable And Much Better Than Today's Dreck

It's crazy how a film nearly 30 years old at this point is so much more fun to watch than all the "Progressive" garbage released today.

A lot of people like the 2015 Melissa McCarthy action-comedy, Spy, but by comparison it's no where near as entertaining as this film. The big difference between the two is that If Looks Could Kill wasn't trying to make a point, it was simply trying to be entertaining.

They also didn't undercut the characters to push an agenda like Spy did, they just wanted people to have fun and enjoy the awesome scenery, the dream-worthy cars, beautiful chicks, and smile-worthy action set pieces.

It's a real shame we don't get more films like this. Heck, you'll be hard pressed to even find many films today that have reasonable runtimes, cheer-worthy leads, and aren't tinged to the gills with Liberal Progressive podium-preaching.

Funny and fun movie.

The only one reason to watch Spy was Jason Statham.

reply

Yeah, Jason Statham was fantastic in that film but even he was under-cut and underplayed to ensure McCarthy wasn't over-shadowed.

reply

"This arm has been ripped off completely and re-attached with this fuckin' arm." - Soooo good delivered and over-shadowing McCarthy's whole career.

ill watch this

GREAT MOVIE...ALL YOUR COMPARISONS AND BITCHING IS AWKWARD AND SAD THOUGH.

reply

I wish my comparisons were untrue and unnecessary; but alas, we don't live in such times where such supple demands for sarcasm and facetiousness can readily be separated from the concrete wall of reality.

WE GET IT...YOU DISLIKE WOMEN BEING PORTRAYED AS MORE THAN SECOND CLASS.🙄

reply

Nah, more dismayed every time I see obesity-acceptance as some sort of "healthy" norm in Hollywood, when in fact it's a leading cause of heart disease for women.

reply

THAT BULLSHIT LINE HUH?...JACKIE GLEASON,JOHN CANDY,JOHN GOODMAN,HOMER SIMPSON...

reply

The obesity health aspect was not necessarily pushed with those guys. They were the fat funny guys. That being said, I don't see obesity being pushed as healthy in any movies. You'll see activist groups pushing it, but that's easy to ignore.

Now, this movie was just fun. I still think the gold smelting pit fight was awesome.

Were any of them praised for being overweight? And did any movie that John Candy or John Goodman star in celebrate them for being them... as overweight unattractive men?

As Anotherday pointed out, they were used for comedic effect, to delivery slapstick or physical comedy.

McCarthy, unfortunately, is being used as a symbol of "it's okay to be overweight".

NO...THATS JUST YOU...MISINTERPRETING YOUR OWN SHITTY THOUGHTS AS THE WAY IT IS....

SAME WITH MCCARTHY...I FIRST SAW HER IN THE THIRD WHEEL IN 1997...TOOK HER A WHILE TO GET MIKE & MOLLY...AND NOW FILMS...SHE IS THE SAME AS SHE EVER WAS...HERSELF.

LOL no... just no.

The movie Spy was literally part of the Leftist propaganda machine to help push for fat acceptance.

McCarthy even admitted to it while promoting the film:

She's also used the "body positivity" message to push for more Left-wing funded pro-fat messaging in media:

And here's more fat-acceptance platitudes:

Who exactly does this help in the long run?

Convincing young girls to keep up these bad eating habits and poor health choices will only lead to an early grave. How do I know? The science says so.

YOU ARE A VERY SAD PERSON.
