I agree that it was rude, but he called his mother a dummy because he felt that his mother wronged him. Why do people accuse him of being a brat instead of understanding that he called his mother a dummy because she wronged him?

shareSame here. In fact, even as a child I was shocked at how he talked to his mom, and yet, not surprised either. She really was a dummy.
Kevin's a very odd case of being both overindulged, neglected, and treated like crap all at once, partially due to his family's class, and the way they treat him compared to everyone else. I'm not surprised he misbehaved half the time, but the truth is, he was the only smart one in the family, and not only did they not notice, they didn't appreciate him until he was gone.
While I do agree that it was very disrespectful I'm on Kevin's side here. His family wasn't very respectful toward him to begin with. Buzz bullied him, and no one did anything about it, his uncle called him a jerk and no one did anything and his cousins were jerks as well. I remember when I was little my mom had a big issue with Uncle Frank calling Kevin a jerk. She said that no one should let another person talk to their kids like that.
shareThose weren't his female cousins. They were his sisters. You know this by the fact that they appear in the picture Kevin looks at of his family. Also I do agree it wasn't right of Uncle Frank to call him a jerk. I heard from someone on this board that originally Uncle Frank was going to be in cahoots with Harry and Marv. That would've been a cool twist if they'd done it.
shareI know the one who insulted him in french and the one who called him helpless were his sisters, but the cousins were all giving him go to hell looks when that mishap happened in the kitchen. Yeah, they should have had Uncle Frank be a part of Harry and Marv's scheme. I never liked him.
