Why didn't the parents get mad at Uncle Frank for calling Kevin a little jerk?

Some family’s have a black sheep. Kevin says he’s always dumped on. That is definitely how it is in my family. When I was a teenager my aunt actually punched me in the back and my parents were right there. It took the breath out of me. But it hurt more not one person stood up for me. I’ve also sat with my family as identical gift bags are passed around. One by one people pull out nice gifts all the same theme. Me? I’ve gotten ratty looking socks and even a USED candle. Not one person said anything. Even as an adult I’ve had the whole family plan vacations with distant relatives I haven’t seen in years and everyone ignores me. I find out later on Facebook or when I’m asked why I didn’t show. You’d think I’d be use to it in my 40s but I’m not. My point isn’t asking for sympathy it’s the simple fact it happens and I have no idea why. It’s been like this since I was very little. A great uncle took all the little kids to a toy store to pick out gifts mine was put back high on the shelf and I got a pencil while others got Cabbage Patch Dolls or LEGO sets. (Shrug) I’m not adopted and I don’t have a different father. I’m just marked as a black sheep.

If your kids can't handle being called jerks, they'll have bigger problems. Ever hear of "sticks and stones"? Maybe teach them that instead of undermining another adult in front of them. All that does is teach them disrespect. Kids need to learn how to handle confrontation and unpleasant people on their own, and not cry about it. Everything is offensive nowadays due to the fact smothering parents overprotect their kids from everything that has even the slightest negative connotation. Participation trophy anyone?

The Uncle was an asshole.

He's clearly that relative nobody likes but doesn't say anything because it would start a family war.
