Do you think that the film would be viewed as being better like by audiences had Connery been in this?

I feel like if Connery had not been busy with working on Last Crusade, he would have totally been in this. During the 80s, Connery was in multiple sci-fi films and this is one I can picture him doing. Yes, Lawrence Luckinbill did a great job as Sybok - but Connery is Connery, always fun to watch in any movie.

I don't think so the plot was silly.

"Shpock...it's me your brother Shypok !"

No, it would've still been thought of a dud, except with the star power of Connery. (think Highlander 2)

However it would've been very interesting to watch Connery interacting with the star trek crew especially Nimoy and Shatner (007 vs Kirk!) . Id say it probably would've added about 30m to the overall worldwide box office (bringing it closer to the grosses of Treks II/III) for the sheer interest of seeing mega star Sean Connery don pointed ears in a star trek film

Yeah, Sybok was played well enough in this but it's an interesting what might have been.

Connery seems to be somewhat underrated given some of these later career sidekick roles he played - Highlander, Untouchables, The Rock, Last Crusade. Would have been fun seeing him bring that same dynamic to Star Trek against Shatner.
